Here at COD we’re big fans of smoothies and make them for a healthy breakfast, a nutritious snack, an afternoon pick-me up and, after a workout, a recovery drink.
A smoothie is a great way to get those important phytonutrients into your diet (and your kids’ too). Adding a dairy free protein powder to your smoothie can boost energy and enhance immunity. We also like to add healthy fats such as coconut, almonds, avocado and chia seeds that will leave your skin glowing and your stomach feeling satisfied.
Here at COD we have been trying different morning recipes with our new Vitamix 7500 and we wanted to share our new favorites with you:
- Banana, Chia, and Spinach Smoothie
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup frozen mango
1 ripe banana
1 handful fresh spinach
1 tsp chia seeds
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend! Add more almond milk as necessary, depending on your desired consistency.
2. Peanut Butter, Banana, and Oat Milk Shake
Serves: One large or two small portions
2 cups cold almond milk (soy or regular milk would also be delicious)
1 banana, cut into chunks (frozen is ideal — definitely peel the banana)

1 heaping tsp honey
1 tbsp flax seeds, ground into meal
2 tsp old-fashioned oats,
3. Mixed-Berry Smoothie
4. Strawberry, Banana, Coconut Smoothie
