When we put out the word asking for members “insiders perspective” from various different chiropractic coaching programs, one such member who was eager to share their story on Circle of Docs is:  NccLcc,  Dr. Jeff Cumro.

Dr. Cumro has been coaching with the Master’s Circle for the past year.

Jeffrey_L._Cumro,_DCMaking a decision if I needed to hire a management company or professional coach was challenging, but also what I believe one of the most pivotal decisions I have ever made personally and professionally.  When I found myself not where I wanted to be at in practice, I realized that I needed to make a change. I knew that this decision was one that would require a significant investment of time and money, and I wanted to make sure I made the correct choice.

Of course, there were times when your ego tells you, “Do I really need someone to tell me how to run my business?”

I struggled with this decision for quite some time, but in the end I realized that I invested a lot of time and money to become a doctor of chiropractic; why not invest in myself and learn what it takes to become ultra successful. I knew that my practice could not stay at the same level and that I needed someone with the expertise to push me to allow me to achieve my goals and create the practice/life of my dreams.

Once I was able to clear that mental hurdle I started to perform online research to find the right company and coach for me. I eventually narrowed my search to three companies and did phone consultations with each. To be frank; after speaking with The Masters Circle I found exactly what I was looking for, however I spent the next month interviewing various coaches and chiropractic franchises.

Masters Circle After my initial phone consultation with Dr. Bob Hoffman and Dr. Dennis Perman I felt as if the Masters Circle was exactly what I needed. Not only have these guys been doing this for longer than I’ve been alive, but they still have a down-to-earth and practical approach. They didn’t spend time telling me what I needed to do like the other coaches I spoke with had, but rather asked me questions that helped me clarify my thinking, my needs and what I was looking to accomplish. They interviewed me like I was a new patient and discovered my needs and challenges.

That’s not all The Masters Circle did on that first call. They also gave me access to their members-only website that contains hours of video of past seminars (they call this TMCtv), recorded coaching philosophy summits, success principles, business strategies and much more. It was a sneak peak at what they had to offer their members and to say the least I was very impressed.

Of course all of this led me to join The Masters Circle. In the end my decision was based on the personal approach, more than the one size fits-all groups that other coaches and franchises offerer.

The first thing that TMC had me do was fill out an in-depth 21 page practice evaluation called the Identity-Based Coaching Practice Evaluation. Completing this questionnaire was eye opening, raised my level of awareness and laser pinpointed weak areas of my practice and personal mindset. I believe this evaluation helped to custom tailor their coaching approach specifically for me.

After the initial paperwork, I was assigned a coach and we discussed every detail on the questionnaire.

The Masters Circle SuperConference 2007From there I began my journey.  In addition to the library of books, webinars, weekly phone calls with my coach, and the vast online resources available at my fingertips; I was placed into a special group where select members spend 15 minutes a week on the phone in a “open consulting” forum with one coach discussing whatever topics present themselves that week.  This small coaching insight and custom tailored coaching has made a huge difference for me.

Another major selling point for me was attending their seminars. They offer a few different seminars each year at different locations. Each seminar includes world-class chiropractors, business leaders and the TMC coaches (who could fit in either of those categories).

Every year I am blown away by the speakers at each event. Each has challenged me to totally change my perspective on chiropractic, and inspired me to become the greatest chiropractor I can be and to not just to settle for the status quo.

day1_speakers_27When contemplating what my biggest positive takeaways from coaching with the Masters Circle I would have to say two things:  Education and Implementation. I thought prior to working with TMC I had a decent grasp on business and firm grip on chiropractic. Since joining I have realized that I was living in my own little world.

[quote_center]Not only have I become a much better chiropractor, but I have regained the practice identity that I had lost after buying a practice and moving. Having that identity goes a long way in succeeding in practice.[/quote_center]

While some of that knowledge has come on my own (through TMCtv, webinars and recordings), much has come from work with my coach, which is individualized based on the goals and expectations that I set forth with my coach.

182595_10151182785835345_1278709378_nOverall, I think that TMC has been a great addition for myself and for my practice.  I would highly recommend TMC to anyone looking to further themselves and to stay relevant in today’s ever changing marketplace. The growth I have seen in practice (my summer was up around 20% this year) is important, but the growth I have realized in myself is even more important. Dr. Bob and Dr. Dennis have reminded me to ask myself the question “If I lost everything today and had to start over fresh, how long would it take me to get to the same level?”, and the answer is very clear. Starting over now would go much more smoothly, and much more quickly than it ever would have in the past.”

I find that after spending the year coaching with the Masters Circle I am a different doctor, businessman and person than I was before TMC.  I am more optimistic, confident and believe that my best is yet to come. Initially it was a difficult decision, but I now look back and proudly say that it was one of the most important and best decisions I have ever made.
