Imagine knowing you were right about something and nobody believed you or that the answer to a complex situation was right under your nose the whole time but the current state of technology didn’t allow “proof.” Socrates used “birch bark” tea in 400 BC to help with fever, centuries before a chemist figured out how to make aspirin in the 1850’s. It’s happened to all of us, particularly to the Chiropractic community and our ability to resolve “complex” health issues.  This is our situation with the Magnesphere a whole body magnetic resonance therapy (MRT) device invented thirty years ago by Dr. Jerry Jacobson.

DD_Palmer_image-1But…. Energy medicine has come of age and shares a long and common history with Chiropractic. The best place to explore the shared history of energy medicine and chiropractic is the early history and writings of DD Palmer. DD Palmer developed the foundation of chiropractic after practicing as a magnetic healer for nine years. In addition to his expertise in anatomy and physiology, Palmer was an expert in magnetic healing; a form of energy medicine. A careful study of son BJ Palmer’s writings about his own research on human energies in the 1930s and 1940s shows that he incorporated some of the subtle energy research of his own day, research providing the groundwork for current chiropractic models. (1)

Additionally, the 1800s inventor and genius Nikola Tesla whose theories and designs are the basis for our current understanding of energy wrote:“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration”

The Magnesphere is essentially a “Palmer meets Tesla” device manufactured by Magneceutical Health and may prove to be the Chiropractor’s “Lost Ark”. In fact, peer reviewed research demonstrates that it is on its way to changing the healthcare industry as we know it.Magnesphere-New

More and more evidence has been found that Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a key biomarker for the body’s ability to adapt to Stress. HRV/Stress can be associated with many chronic diseases or conditions…..as wide ranging as PTSD to Diabetes to Atrial Fibrillation and Autism just to name a few.

“HRV is a representation of the changing balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). Low Parasympathetic tone and High Sympathetic tone combined with a low HRV indicated a declining state of Health and adaptability.”

– David Fletcher, DC (Chief Clinical Officer CLA)

Recent Studies from Boone & Welch, Zhang et al indicate that HRV can be positively impacted by the Chiropractic adjustment. (2,3)

Similarly the Magnesphere in some of the latest research published by the Heart Rhythm Institute at the University of Oklahoma has demonstrated in pre-clinical studies its ability to impact HRV to such an extent that conditions such as Atrial Fibrillation are positively effected without the need for a surgical ablation or drugs! (4)

Finally, there now exists a simple, affordable bio-feedback mechanism to measure MRT’s effect on the HRV of your Patients. Its currently available and will help provide the “proof” that was lacking in Dr. Jacobson’s early years.

The future of medicine must look to the next layer of comprehension, because we now know that the human body is a cooperative collection of trillions of atoms, and inter-atomic communications that regulate the biochemical events that shape human function. Einstein taught us that all matter is condensed electromagnetic field. So its logical to now understand why our MRT device can “change” a biomarker such as HRV and with the skilled hands of a Chiropractor improve the Health of their Patients.
