Standard Process provides 13 students with scholarships to attend National Leadership Conference
Standard Process Inc. sent 13 students from the surrounding area to the American Youth Foundation’s (AYF) National Leadership Conference held June 10-18 in Shelby, Michigan. Following their attendance at the conference, the students visited Standard Process on June 30 to tour the company’s manufacturing facility and certified organic farm, and give a group presentation about their conference experience to their parents and Standard Process President Charles C. DuBois.

In fulfilling its posterity value, the company supports its employees and their children in many ways, such as with the AYF scholarship. Standard Process covered tuition, transportation and spending money for each of the 13 students. The company also gave each student a sleeping bag, back pack, head lamp, sweatshirt and beach towel for the trip.
DuBois attended the fifth day of the conference to give an inspirational speech to the fourth-year attendees about the importance of being a positive and supportive leader. “I am really happy to see the increased participation this year,” said DuBois. “Being able to provide these young adults the opportunity to develop leadership skills that will be helpful in their future is priceless.”
The leadership conference teaches attendees skills to help develop their minds, bodies and spirits through active learning in a camp environment. The learned skills help attendees to become better role models for their peers and positive forces of change in their communities.
“During our first year quest it really got me thinking about my life and how fortunate I have it compared to other people,” said first-year attendee Collin Metzger. “I am truly blessed to have had Standard Process provide me with this opportunity.”
The students who participated in the leadership conference this year included eight first-year attendees: Grace Anderson from Mukwonago High School, Lucy Hundt from Arrowhead High School, Mitchell Geiger from Muskego High School, Roberto Navejas from Whitewater High School, Sawyer Peterson from Jefferson High School, and Morgan Landess, Rachel Mason and Collin Metzger from Palmyra-Eagle High School.
Returning conference attendees this year included second year attendees, Palmyra-Eagle High School students Antonia Bartolotta and Jackie Rosa, and for the third consecutive year, recipients Noemie Covarrubias of Texas, Jarrett Giese from Palmyra-Eagle High School and Kadee Jankowski from Mukwonago High School.
The first- and second-year attendees participated in the conference from June 11-18. Third-year attendants arrived a day earlier because they were promoted to cabin leaders this year.
“The American Youth Foundation National Leadership Conference has, hands down, been one of the best weeks of my life!” said Rosa, who attended the camp for her second year. “I am so grateful for the camp scholarship because the curriculum taught at camp has helped me develop not only into a better leader, but a better person.”
In order to be a scholarship candidate, students need to be the child of a Standard Process employee. First-year applicants then provide a written essay about themselves, and participate in an interview with Pat Jones, a life coach consultant employed by Standard Process. Returning applicants are judged by their previous year’s performance at the conference and a written essay.
